School Trilogy Era (2013-2014)
The School Trilogy is BTS’s “defiant teenager” era and the group delves into topics of interest to people their own age: dreams, happiness, and love. They tell stories about young people living without hope, schools that force rigid and homogenous thought, and the importance of finding your happiness before it’s too late.

Youth Trilogy Era (2015-2016)
In the Youth Trilogy era, BTS explores the concept of “adrift youth” and “the most beautiful moment in life” (화양연화 or 花様年華, also known as hwa yang yeon hwa or HYYH). At the start of one’s young adulthood, beauty coexists with uncertainty. However, despite an insecure reality, these young people continue to surge forward.

Love Yourself Era (2017-2019)
In the Love Yourself era, BTS explores love both as a coming-of-age narrative and a message of peace and unity to society. The group expresses different facets of love, from the heart-fluttering moments of first love, to fake love that leads to loss, and ultimately the message that self-love is true love.
