SUGA began writing music by the age of 13 years old and by 17 he began composing and arranging music, rapping and performing as an underground rapper under the name โGlossโ. He produced the song โ518-062โ as part of the hip hop group D-Town in 2010 to commemorate the Gwangji Uprising.
SUGA joined BigHit Entertainment in 2010 as a trainee and music producer gaining his stage name from the first two syllables of the words โshooting guardโ, the position he held when he played basketball in high school. The name was also suggested by then BigHit Entertainment CEO, Bang Si Hyuk for his โpale and sweet appearance like sugarโ.
He made an appearance in 2AM JoKwonโs โIโm Da Oneโ music video in 2012 along side Jin, j-hope, V, and Jungkook.
- 2013 -
On June 13, 2013, SUGA debuted as part of BTS on Mnet M! Countdown performing their track โNo More Dreamโ from the bandโs debut single album โ2 Cool 4 Skoolโ. He wrote and produced several of the songs on the album and would continue to write for the band in the years to come.

On April 11, 2014, SUGA appeared as a Special Guest MC along side N.CA for APinkโs interview segment on KBS Music Bank, a live performance music show featuring some of the most popular Korean musicians.
- 2015 -
On April 15, 2015, BTS released their comeback trailer for โํ์์ฐํ pt.1(Intro: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt.1)โ as part of their 3rd mini album, โThe Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Foreverโ released on April 29, 2015.
The trailer features vivid animations that riffs on the flower motif and SUGAโs emotional but powerful rap about finding happiness.

On September 20, 2015, SUGA, j-hope, and RM appeared as guest performers for the โ2015 All Force One: Hot & Coolโ concert, a hip hop music festival featuring RM as one of the headlining artists.
The performance would give fans the first glimpse into what a BTS rapline concert would be like with the band still in their early years of their career.

On November 18, 2015, Big Hit released the first track on BTS album, โThe Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 2โ titled, โNever Mindโ, featuring the BTS Rapline with SUGA taking the lead role. The song was written by SUGA and Slow Rabbit.
- 2016 -
On August 16, 2016, SUGA released his first mixtape under the name โAgust Dโ which is โDT SUGAโ written backwards. DT stands for D Town (Daegu Town), his hometown. Under this name, SUGA also became the second member of BTS to release a mixtape. His mixtape reached #16 on FUSE TVโs โ20 Best Mixtapes Of 2016โ List.

On August 19, 2016, SUGA was featured in the September 2016 issue of Grazia Magazine where he opened up about his daily routine in making music, performing, and the launch of his mixtape under the name Agust D.

On October 10, 2016, SUGA released his solo song, โFirst Loveโ as part of the BTS WINGS album.

On April 27, 2017, singer-songwriter, Suran, released her song titled, โ์ค๋ ์ทจํ๋ฉด (Wine)โ, co-produced by SUGA and Slow Rabbit. The song was written by SUGA, Slow Rabbit, Suran, JUNE, and Changmo.
This was the first time SUGA had composed and produced for another artist other than BTS.
On June 14, 2017, a version of the song, โSo Far Awayโ, featuring SUGA, Jin, & Jungkook was released as a surprise at BTSโ 4th FESTA celebration. This version expresses a melancholy feel with added strings and piano compared to the original version featuring Suran.
SUGA also shared about his mistake in writing โdonโt far awayโ instead of โdonโt fall awayโ for the song. This version was a chance for him to share the corrected lyrics also stating that this version is closer to the feel and vide be originally intended to release.

On February 23, 2018, SUGA experienced a second wave of success with his โAgust Dโ mixtape which was re-released appearing for the first time on Spotify and Apple Music after 2 years from its original release on Soundcloud.
The re-released mixtape ranked several music charts:
#1 on Worldwide ITunes Album Chart
#3 on Billboardโs World Albums chart
#5 on the Heartseekers Albums chart
#74 on the Top Album Sales chart

On August 24, 2018, SUGA released his solo song, โTrivia ่ฝ : Seesaw,โ as part of BTSโ โLove Yourself: Answerโ album. SUGA would reveal in a September 2018 VLIVE, that the song was not meant to be a solo song and was to be a song for all the members of BTS to sing together. SUGA co-wrote the song along with Slow Rabbit.

On January 22, 2019, ballad singer, Lee Sora, released her single, โSong Requestโ featuring SUGA. The song was composed by Epik Highโs Tablo and DEE.P and the lyrics were written by Tablo and SUGA. The song is a jazzy ballad tune about seeking solace from heartbreak in songs played on the radio.

On June 21, 2019, BTS released their song, โAll Nightโ featuring rapper Juice WRLD, RM, & SUGA which was the third release from the soundtrack to BTSโ mobile game, BTS WORLD. The song was produced by RM and Powers Pleasant.

On July 7, 2019, Heizeโs song, โWe don't talk together (Feat. ๊ธฐ๋ฆฌ๋ณด์ด (Giriboy)) (Prod. SUGA),โ was released. Suga produced and co-wrote the lyrics with Heize and Giriboy, as well as co-composed with EL CAPITXN.
On December 6, 2019, Halsey released a collaborative track with SUGA titled, โSUGAโs Interlude.โ The song was included on Halseyโs album, โManicโ that was released on January 17, 2020. SUGA revealed to fans in a broadcast on VLive on December 13, 2019 that he and Halsey were able to complete the track without meeting once to talk about it during the writing process, describing it as a benefit of the current times.

On January 9, 2020, BTS released their comeback trailer titled, โInterlude: Shadow,โ performed by SUGA, as the intro track to their album, โMap of the Soul: 7,โ released the following month in February 2020. In the song, SUGA describes his ambitions and the difficulties that come with fame.

On May 22, 2020, SUGA released his second mixtape as Agust D titled, โD-2โ, a collection of emotions, ideas, and sounds Suga absorbed from the past 4 years. Itโs a documentation of himself as a 28-year-old.
D-2 debuted at No. 2 on Billboardโs Top Album Sales chart.

On August 12, 2021, Samsung released a reimagined version of their classic theme song โOver the Horizonโ by SUGA.

On October 15, 2021, singer รMI (formerly Hiroomi Tosaka) released his track, โYouโ produced by SUGA.
In an interview with Billboard Japan, รMI stated that SUGA โconveys the light and darkness of the soul through music, and expresses music as art.โ He went on to say that โYouโ has found a global audience entirely due to SUGA to widened the gate for the song.

On December 10, 2021, Juice WRLDโs song title, โGirl of My Dreamsโ featuring SUGA was released from his posthumous album, โFighting Demonsโ.
With this collaboration, SUGA became the 1st Korean soloist ever to debut at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales Chart. The song also debuted at No.29 on Billboard's Hot 100, "making it the second-highest debut by any Korean soloist in history".

On April 29, 2022, SUGA participated in producing the 2nd track of Psyโs upcoming full-length album titled, โThat That (prod. SUGA of BTS)โ. He was also featured in the song and the music video.
On June 28, 2022, SUGA produced the original soundtrack for the mobile game, โBTS Island: In the SEOMโ which was released alongside the grand opening of the game. The soundtrack titled, โOur Islandโ (Prod. by SUGA), is SUGAโs first game OST as a producer.
On August 15, 2022 KST, Samsung released an all new interpretation of their musical theme โOver the Horizon 2022โ produced by Suga of BTS. Sugaโs goal of this yearโs theme was to encourage people to look to a bright future and to think about what excitement is waiting โOver the Horizonโ. Since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2 in 2011, Suga is the first artist to remix the sounds twice and to produce a tune for the latest edition of Galaxy foldables.
On December 5, 2022, the first episode of the talk show, โSuchwita,โ starring SUGA as the host premiered on BANGTANTV YouTube channel and Weverse. โSuchwitaโ is short for โtime to get drunk with SUGAโ in Korean. The show involves SUGA carrying out in-depth conversations about music and more with special guests over drinks. RM appears as his first guest in episode 1.

On January 12, 2023, fashion brand Maison Valentino released behind the scenes video clips of their latest menswear campaign with SUGA as their newest Global Ambassador.

On February 14, 2023, Big Hit announced that SUGA would embark on a solo tour from April 26, 2023 to June 25, 2023 starting in the U.S. and ending in Seoul. He is the first BTS member to tour on his own.

On April 2, 2023 KST, Big Hit announced the upcoming release of SUGAโs first official solo album titled, โD-DAY,โ the concluding chapter of a trilogy by SUGAโs other moniker, Agust D, succeeding the previous mixtapes, โAgust Dโ and โD-2.โ

On August 4-6, 2023, SUGA held his โD-DAY The Finalโ tour in Seoul, South Korea. The 3 day event was an extension of his D-DAY Tour that kicked off in April 2023.
The concert held both in person and via live stream and featured performances by SUGAโs fellow bandmates, RM, Jimin, and Jung Kook with Jin and j-hope making an appearance in the audience.

On September 11, 2023, SUGAs D-DAY tour became the highest grossing tour by a Korean solo artist in history making over $57.2 million (KRW 75.55 billion approximately).
SUGA performed 11 shows across 5 cities in the U.S. where he sold more than 148K tickets bringing in more than $32.5 million. He also went on to perform 17 additional shows across Asia selling over 172K tickets generating $29.7 million.
On September 16, 2023, Bighit announced that SUGA would begin his mandatory military service on September 22, 2023. SUGA also made a live appearance later that day on Weverse sharing his latest haircut along with some final words with fans before departing for training.
